Helping in the Vineyard.

                Helping In The Vineyard

My church-service mission is getting more and more organized.  We had our first of regular monthly meetings and our numbers are growing.  We now have three districts, ours that is obviously the oldies and two more that consist of young Elders and Sisters that for whatever reason are unable to serve a full-time mission.  These young people are a fine contribution.  It is really sweet to sense the emerging mission feeling.  These young missionaries come in every day to the Riverton office and do their assignments to make a difference with their unique abilities.

The Vineyard article in the Church News describes what our mission leader, Chris Padilla has been doing with The Vineyard.  At times Harriet and I have had fun sharing our computer screens and working on indexing.  We can also work on many other activities together that I had overlooked till reading this article.  There are so many opportunities to do small things that make a difference that I tend to forget them.  Give them a try and find what you can do.  Family home evening, YM/YW and other times in our weeks are good times to check in and do something.  Some people just do one activity for 5-minutes a day every day.

"Ordinary people who faithfully, diligently, and consistently do simple things that are right before God will bring forth extraordinary results."  Elder David A. Bednar

I like that concept!

From time to time I have enjoyed contributing in small ways by adding image search words.

As you see the great variety of images you'll get an idea of the photos that you may have taken over the years that can be contributed at Contribute Photos Activity.  You may not wish to post family-member images but you likely have many others that you could contribute.

Watching YouTube videos and commenting is another option.
Millions of people are on YouTube daily. As you watch the videos and share them, you will be helping the video itself be seen by more people on YouTube and other video search engines. People will be touched by your comments and the things they feel while enjoying the Mormon Channel videos.

At our missionary meeting I was impressed as I read some of the simple, honest comments members had posted.

The past couple of  Christmases your Christmas gifts were donations to the poor and needy  and temple patron assistance in various parts of the world through LDS Philanthropies.  There are more options to donate to.  My donations haven't  been big but they have been some thing and I think you've appreciated making a difference in the gift you've received.

The first sharing the gospel online activity I did as I began this mission was Google Local LDS Chapel Review.  Our Boise family did this one family home evening when I was visiting last December as I recall.  Its easy and its natural.  Just think of the various meetinghouses where you have attended church over the years and write your feelings of when you were there.  I'm looking forward to commenting on Centinella Ward building and my memory of sitting on the steps as a 4-year old for a Primary photo and what it has meant to me.  There are scores of other chapels in the U.S.  and perhaps even those in other countries that I can find where I've attended and can leave a comment.

Its interesting to me that many of the things we each have a natural interest in can be done in these simple ways to make a difference for someone else in sharing the gospel.  There are more activities that may also be of interest to you.

Anyone can participate.
