However, the real mystery was the next morning. Who had taken the last piece of Red Velvet Cake? Out came all the mug shots, the weapons and the rooms and the investigation began. It was finally deduced by those present that the most likely weapon was The Knife. The scene of the crime was The Dining Room. The most likely culprits were: Miss Scarlet, Miss Peacock and Mrs. White. Mrs. White! That's me. I cannot imagine why I was a suspect, but nevertheless, I was.
Over time while Miss Scarlet and Miss Peacock were walking the dogs Mrs. White was no longer considered a suspect. When the two most likely returned Colonel Mustard confronted Miss Scarlet directly, "Did you, indeed, eat the last piece of Red Velvet Cake?" Her unabashed reply, "It was only a little part of a slice." No matter, Colonel Mustard had the culprit and the case was solved.
Attention turned to other matters among the family canines. Buddy and Juniper provided entertainment tugging on a poor little fox toy. A treat for each resolved the conflict. Doxie wisely stayed clear of the contest.
Its been delightful talking to the rest of the family and hearing of them welcoming in the new year. Our Kentucky cousins stayed up for the first time till midnight after enjoying breakfast for dinner brought by friends. Bruce is back to work and MeeMaw comes Thursday to meet Gilbert and be a very welcome helper. The Boise cousins had Italian with great Italian sodas by David, sounds tempting for next year. The Oakridge cousins had pot roast and Yorkshire, yummm. From what everyone reported it sounds like all had a grand time. There is no better way to welcome the new year.
Hello, 2013!
